On the train today, the early morning train, it is freezing. It is so cold that the commuters’ warm hearts are breathing out smokey air. They said on the radio it’s the coldest August in a decade.
And I had to end up on a non-air-conditioned train. Commuters sit quietly wrapped in their scarves and beanies. Scarves and beanies that might not have been used in years. And they look funny. Even a bright coloured sport club fan scarf will do on that elegant business suite. Or that old-looking beanie that your mum knit for you 10 years ago. A young couple lean on each other to share their warmth. Gents read the paper and ladies read gossip magazines trying to turn the page with their gloves on. Others holding their coffee cup tight against their cheeks. And I can barely feel my fingers anymore while typing this post.
Cold-bloody hearted cityrail. Get air-conditions on all your trains!
